打造在地認識空間 Making Local Knowing Spaces

主講人：John Law, Emeritus professor in Sociology at Open University

John Law為國際知名的科技與社會學者，也是科技與社會學界領域行動者網絡理論（Actor-Network Theory, ANT）的先驅學者之一。他與法國的Michel Callon、Bruno Latour 等人合作，開創STS 學界的重要理論學派「行動者網絡理論」，由科技行動的物質性著手，提出「異質工程」（heterogeneous engineering）概念為ANT 的核心概念之一。

他曾擔任英國Open University 社會系教授，及ESRC所屬的Centre for Research on Socio-cultural Change 中心主任。在此之前任教於英國蘭開斯特大學社會系，以及該校科學研究中心（Centre for Science Studies）與社會學系主任。其著述豐富且多元，許多成為科技與社會研究之經典。近年研究環繞著方法、展演性、災難、知識空間等四大主題：
一、Framing Postcolonial Knowledge
二、Framing Nature and Culture
三、Method, Framing and Performativity
四、Framing Policy and Power

本次訪台之工作坊包括兩部分，都與John Law教授關注的後殖民議題相關：

第一部分將就其即將於2017年六月出版於EASTS期刊之Provincialising STS: Symmetry, Postcolonialism and Method（與林文源共同發表）論壇與回應 與在地學者進行對話。本文為John Law教授於2015年接受Society for Social Studies of Science終生成就獎（Denver Bernal Prize）之致詞改寫。除John Law與林文源之論文與回應，EASTS之論壇包括台灣陳瑞麟、日本Atsuro Morita、澳洲Warwick Anderson、美國Judith Farquhar之評論。

第二部分將分別就在地認識空間之議題進行對話闡述。在地認識空間為近年John Law教授試圖由後殖民角度重新思考STS之理論主軸，John Law教授與各地學者合作由鮭魚養殖、Sámi原住民、中醫之個案探索不同在地認識空間之形構與政治性。

John Law, Emeritus professor in Sociology at Open University and Honorary Professor at Lancaster University.

Prof. Law is one of the leading scholars in the field of science, technology and society studies (STS) and one of the founders of Actor-Network Theory (ANT).

Among other important works with Michel Callon and Bruno Latour, his concept ‘heterogeneous engineering’ is one of the most important ANT theoretical innovations in the 80s.

He acted as the director of Centre for Research on Socio-cultural Change, ESRC, and director of Centre for Science Studies and Department of Sociology, Lancaster University.

He was awarded the J.D.Bernal Prize by the Society for Social Studies of Science for his lifelong contribution to STS scholarship.

Prof. Law’s most recent reaches are focused on:

(a) Framing Postcolonial Knowledge and encounters,
(b) Framing Nature and Culture,
(C) Method, Framing and Performativity,
(d) Framing Policy and Power.

This workshop is devoted to present his latest theoretical development of framing postcolonial knowledge and encounter.
