打造在地认识空间 Making Local Knowing Spaces

主讲人：John Law, Emeritus professor in Sociology at Open University

John Law为国際知名的科技與社会學者，也是科技與社会學界领域行动者网络理論（Actor-Network Theory, ANT）的先驱學者之一。他與法国的Michel Callon、Bruno Latour 等人合作，开创STS 學界的重要理論學派「行动者网络理論」，由科技行动的物质性着手，提出「异质工程」（heterogeneous engineering）概念为ANT 的核心概念之一。

他曾担任英国Open University 社会系教授，及ESRC所属的Centre for Research on Socio-cultural Change 中心主任。在此之前任教于英国蘭开斯特大學社会系，以及该校科學研究中心（Centre for Science Studies）與社会學系主任。其着述丰富且多元，许多成为科技與社会研究之经典。近年研究环绕着方法、展演性、灾难、知识空间等四大主题：
一、Framing Postcolonial Knowledge
二、Framing Nature and Culture
三、Method, Framing and Performativity
四、Framing Policy and Power

本次访台之工作坊包括两部分，都與John Law教授关注的後殖民议题相关：

第一部分将就其即将于2017年六月出版于EASTS期刊之Provincialising STS: Symmetry, Postcolonialism and Method（與林文源共同发表）論坛與回应 與在地學者进行对话。本文为John Law教授于2015年接受Society for Social Studies of Science終生成就奖（Denver Bernal Prize）之致词改写。除John Law與林文源之論文與回应，EASTS之論坛包括台湾陈瑞麟、日本Atsuro Morita、澳洲Warwick Anderson、美国Judith Farquhar之評論。

第二部分将分别就在地认识空间之议题进行对话阐述。在地认识空间为近年John Law教授試图由後殖民角度重新思考STS之理論主轴，John Law教授與各地學者合作由鲑鱼养殖、Sámi原住民、中医之个案探索不同在地认识空间之形构與政治性。

John Law, Emeritus professor in Sociology at Open University and Honorary Professor at Lancaster University.

Prof. Law is one of the leading scholars in the field of science, technology and society studies (STS) and one of the founders of Actor-Network Theory (ANT).

Among other important works with Michel Callon and Bruno Latour, his concept ‘heterogeneous engineering’ is one of the most important ANT theoretical innovations in the 80s.

He acted as the director of Centre for Research on Socio-cultural Change, ESRC, and director of Centre for Science Studies and Department of Sociology, Lancaster University.

He was awarded the J.D.Bernal Prize by the Society for Social Studies of Science for his lifelong contribution to STS scholarship.

Prof. Law’s most recent reaches are focused on:

(a) Framing Postcolonial Knowledge and encounters,
(b) Framing Nature and Culture,
(C) Method, Framing and Performativity,
(d) Framing Policy and Power.

This workshop is devoted to present his latest theoretical development of framing postcolonial knowledge and encounter.
