Digital Communication: Opportunities for Enhanced Learning and Patient Education
With the increase of access to information, online communities provide interesting opportunities for outreach and knowledge transfer; however, proper training is needed. In this talk, I provide an overview of the specialized digital communication trainings that I am currently piloting at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, CA for MD students, and a course I co-teach at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) for MD-PhD students. I describe the teaching methods and topics that are presented to medical and physician-scientist student populations. I end the presentation with suggestions for harnessing these technologies to increase online patient and societal education.
